New growth: future prospects for the kitchen retail sector in 2030

Sunday, 20. September 2026 / 16:00 – 16:45

Over the last few years, we have gradually but increasingly clearly noticed that the economic

situation has changed. With each passing year, it has become slightly more difficult to encourage customers

to maintain the same level of spending or to get them excited about new products. This is also true in the kitchenware sector and

retail. Looking to the future, we need a certain ability to navigate paradoxes. From the desire for

quality to the hype surrounding cheap deals, from the notion that e-commerce is

replacing high-street shops to the idea that inflation or discount wars are putting local retailers – from large to

small – under even greater pressure. However, alongside all these challenges, new aspirations are emerging across the generations:

rather than merely challenges, there is a longing for services rather than pure technology, for new

value and surprises. And a desire for stability beyond the hype. So what is it like when everything is striving in one direction whilst simultaneously being pulled in the opposite direction?
