Cross-cutting, independent and digital – these are the characteristics of the virtual trade show event for the kitchen industry "kuechenherbst.online". The format launch, which took place between 19 and 24 September online, brought together 190 exhibitors & brands and around 5,000 unique trade visitors to date, generating 23,000 unique visits to their stands within the first six days. The "leave business card" function quickly emerged as the most important tool of the new portal, which can be used to generate genuine leads and new business efficiently and directly. The live video streams from various exhibitors also have proved to be very popular with users. In the wake of this successful event it became clear to everyone involved that the virtual Küchenherbst is a clever and contemporary answer in the search for new trade show formats – in other words: kitchens can be showcased digitally and trade shows work online!
Trade fair specialist Trendfairs GmbH from Munich has moved networking to the top of the agenda of the virtual event. The platform, which is open to all those interested after registration, and takes place as a parallel event to the A30 Küchenmeile ("kitchen mile") show, has delivered some impressive data: 190 exhibitors – including Architekturwerkstatt Löhne, area30/cube30, Gut Böckel, House-4-Kitchen, Kitchen Center Löhne and other individual exhibitors well-known in the industry – have recorded 22,996 unique visits to their stands to date; 4,798 unique trade visitors handed over 4,311 electronic business cards to their business partners during the first six days of the show.
In his statement, Matthias Berens, Sales Director of Bauformat Küchen GmbH & Co. KG, gave the new portal top marks: "We at the Baumann group were delighted to take part in the online fair kuechenherbst.online. During the preparation phase we were professionally supported by the Trendfairs team. It was very easy and quick for us to create the content – we did not need any support from external service providers. The results are great! Many of our customers are acquainting themselves with the digital platform, as they are not going to the trade show this year. This digital platform gives us the opportunity to establish contacts with our customers and generate valuable leads even without a physical trade show."
Frank Pohl, the Managing Director of SHD Kreative-Planungs-Systeme GmbH, considered the live streams to be particularly useful: "In times of the coronavirus pandemic, trade show organisers are also breaking new ground – turning web portals into platforms for innovations, live streams and product information. In terms of interaction, this is unbeatable. We were also very happy about the leads we generated in the virtual trade show space. The bulk of the virtual trade show visits occurred during the core period of the trade show events for the kitchen and furniture industry that traditionally take place in autumn in East Westphalia, which offered a great variety despite coronavirus-related restrictions. The portal, which went online for the first time, is true to its format "open" 24 hours a day. Most visits were quite long, sometimes lasting several hours. The option to stream live videos has also proved to be very popular. The 2,656 video streams over six days of the trade show speak for themselves.
As Lasse Naber, Managing Director of Naber GmbH, puts it: "Extraordinary times call for extraordinary measures. With the portal 'kuechenherbst.online', Trendfairs has created a way to turn the autumn Küchenherbst trade show into a digital event. It goes without saying that we would have preferred a physical area30 event, but the digital concept allows us to present our products and innovations, to stay in touch with our customers and to generate new leads."
kuechenherbst.online will remain open until 19 November, as one of the undisputed advantages of virtual events is that they have practically no limitations in terms of space or time. Starting next Monday, the registration and login processes will be simplified, and some exhibitors will adapt or optimise their virtual presence based on their experience gained during the trade show week. The trade show platform, which was developed in a surprisingly short time, turned out to be a complete success for the trade fair organiser, Trendfairs, as well as for exhibitors and visitors, and after its successful launch, it will certainly earn a coveted place on the programme of future Küchenherbst trade shows. In view of the changing patterns of behaviour, this virtual approach could even become a communication option that appeals to the next generation of decision-makers.
